Healing

There is so much happening in our busy lives that we can forget to stop and take a moment to heal ourselves. Personally I find myself on a short fuse usually until I explode which usually leads me to say and do things I regret.

BE KIND, FORGIVE, BE GRATEFUL

Metoo and NOW

Metoo and NOW campaigns are fantastic in highlighting problems with Gender Inequality and Sexual Harrassment. It seems to me that publicity is regarding the well off women. Acttresses etc. Very concerned that the situation for low income earners is included.

Sexual Harassment is the legal term for ‘harassment ‘in the workplace. So harassment outside the workplace is not covered by the term.

Women are the majority of employees in the low income positions. Cooks, cleaners, caeres, shop assistants etc.a lot of women work for their partner. Considering Refugees sponsered to work in Regional Areas are reluctant to complain for obvious reasons.

In Education, women are over represented in the lower paying or TAFE courses. It is brilliant that women are enrolling perhaps due to requiring quick qualifications. Education is a necessity to end the poverty cycle

Some Universities have recently addressed harassment but TAFE ? Cuts in TAFE funding adversely effect women.

So employment, university are acting. What happens with harassment at schools. School counselors I suppose. Male entitlement is where this starts. Young males manipulating young females with lies and intimidating them to engage in sexual activity. Outside legal sexual harassment but tis harassment surely.

Is there a link between Domestic Violence and Sexual Harrassment?

Again surely just legal wordplay. Ex partners using sex to increase child access or to reduce maintenance is harrassment..the legal definition of domestic violence includes sexual assault

Manipulation by using the Differential In Power or Income by men is underreported

Finally Indigenous women are left out in discussions re Harassment and Inequality. Communities are often patriarchal so listening to the needs of Aboriginal Women is important.

Inequality in health impacts Rural and particularly Indigenous Women. Health care by internet is an issue due to cost of data and access in remote areas.

This is not my story, I am male and city dweller but I have an adult daughter so I support women empowerment. Thank you to NOW Australia for this oppourtunity

The 2016 PSS collected information about men’s and women’s lifetime experiences of sexual harassment.

  • Two in five people (39% or 7.2 million) aged 18 years and over experienced sexual harassment during their lifetime.
  • One in two women (53% or 5 million) and one in four men (25% or 2.2 million) had experienced sexual harassment during their lifetime.
  • In the last 12 months, one in six women (17% or 1.6 million) and one in eleven men (9.3% or 836,700) experienced sexual harassment.
  • For both men and women, younger age groups were more likely than older persons to experience sexual harassment in the 12 months. Approximately 38% of women (421,400) and 16% of men (185,200) aged 18-24 years had experienced sexual harassment in the 12 months prior to the survey.

Changes since 2012 Endnote 6

United Southern Nations (USN)

Today I have lauchned USN to help the Nations in the Southern Hemisphere work collaboratively to confront some of the issues facing the USN Presently (climate change, poverty, human rights ) and to respect the Past by ensuring truth in education ie Colonialism.

Violence is also an issue common around the globe. USN seeks to reduce violence by respecting Minorities and Empowering Women. The United Nations does great work globally but seems to be loosing support in Sovereign States. USN will be community based and involve supporting Communities to achieve particapation and change.

Rural Communities are often isolated and Mental Health problems are to common. USN is all about people. Not about nations. Terrorism has today hit Indonesia and Education is the best way to combat it. Politicians will spread fear, People are not powerless but do need to be observant and build supportive Communities

I invite people to support USN on the Facebook Page.

Together we can make a difference

Metoo

Thinking about Metoo Ladies and Sexual Harassment , there is a lot to think about. Is it Mars and Venus thing ? For a guy, going out on a Friday night, the night is about finding a partner for sex. Presenting yourself like a Peacock to ladies in the hope that the night may be together. Hopefully condoms in the wallet .

Does the above give respect to ladies ? I spent a few years working in education and had the experience of supervising School Dances and the games plated by both sexes. Guys told lies about themselves. The Gals did seem attracted to sporting types even if these same guys were definitely ‘bad boys’ .

Have we lost our way in the sexual revolution. Is it the Male Sexual Revolution ? How do we get respect into relationships as Rosie Batty has suggested ? If you saw a Metoo situation happening, what would you do, and what would you say ?

I think asking Are U Ok ? Would be a start I decided that You deserve respect .. may be appropriate. Not sure it would be welcomed. The conversation would be easier if I was asked my thoughts. Not sure why I would be asked. Open Communication and Respectful Relationships based on truth are needed to start. Exaggerating your accomplishments to impress the opposite sex only decieves them and starts off on a bad foot. Mmm Sorry is a common word in those relationships.

Finally the One Night Stand does lead to a Relationship
